FO: Murloc

This was Dick’s birthday present. It’s a WoW character. I don’t expect any of you to know what that is, but if you do, congratulations! You know what the nerdiest thing I’ve ever knit is!

Anyway, it’s not a COMPLETELY finished object because I still need to buy buttons for the eyes, but I’m giving it to Dick tomorrow, so I may never have pictures of it with eyes.

Anyway, here is the murloc:

DSCN0404

Pattern: More than a Fish by Ixetal Cilona

Yarn: UrbanGypZ Bam! Boo! in the colorway “Frosty Blue Margarita With Lime” and Knitpicks Palette in the “Garnet Heather” colorway.

Needles: Size 0

Modifications: I didn’t stuff it, I knit it with fingering weight yarn instead, and I left to mouth open so it could eat stuff.

What did I think about this pattern? I found it to be a huge pain in the ass. Not that the pattern was written poorly, but it was just SO piecey. The instructions basically consisted of knitting in the round over no more than 20 stitches for no more than 2 inches and sewing about 9 pieces onto the body. I think that knitting toys is just not for me. Oh well. You live and you learn I guess.

I think the yarn suited the pattern well because murlocs are all green and grossy.

I guess he must like them, since it was his birthday 3 years ago that I made my last toy, the Murloc. […]
